Old Hall Cottage

Amenities
Step back in time and experience Chester from the heart of its historic city centre at Old Hall Place, a charming Grade II listed cottage tucked away within Chester’s ancient Roman walls.
Perfectly positioned, the cottage is steps away from a walkway leading on to Chester’s famous medieval Rows on Watergate Street- what locals affectionately know as the city’s independent quarter. Here, you’re surrounded by independent shops, characterful cafés, fantastic restaurants, traditional pubs and some of Chester’s most beautiful historic streets.
Old Hall Place forms part of a charming row of four Grade II listed cottages built around 1889 as homes for staff working at Browns of Chester, the much-loved local department store.
Today, the cottage retains its original features and historic charm, offering a cosy and characterful place to unwind after a day exploring the city. Think inviting interiors, a welcoming living room with a log burner for cosy evenings, and a kitchen filled with beautiful, unique tableware and thoughtful details that make the space feel like a home rather than just somewhere to stay.
At the rear of the cottage, you’ll find a quaint, walled courtyard with plenty of greenery and outdoor furniture. It’s a lovely little spot to enjoy a morning coffee, relax with a glass of wine on warmer evenings, or simply take a breather before heading back out to enjoy everything Chester has to offer.
The cottage comfortably accommodates families, couples, friends or business professionals looking for a characterful city-centre base.
The cottage offers two inviting bedrooms, a double and a twin, both dressed with crisp white linen with fresh towels provided for your stay. The family bathroom features a bath with an overhead shower, perfect for a refreshing start to the day or a relaxing soak after exploring Chester.
With Chester’s rich history, independent shopping scene and lively food and drink spots a stones throw away, there’s no need to travel far to make the most of your stay.
Wander through the medieval Rows, admire the magnificent Cathedral, stroll along the Roman walls, explore the riverside or settle into one of the many independent cafés and restaurants nearby.
Whether you’re visiting for a romantic city break, a family getaway or a few days exploring one of England’s most beautiful historic cities, Old Hall Cottage offers a unique opportunity to stay somewhere with genuine history, character and a wonderfully central location.
